Rolling Stock
from 7 years

In 1983, LEGO introduced a second wave of sets for the train system, replacing some sets from the first wave. This second wave again came with several stand alone "extra" rolling stock sets, and this 7815 is one of them.

A-Model

Although never officialy announced as such by LEGO, this was (together with 7819) one of two add-on sets for the 7740 express: a sleeper car. As such, it shared the colour scheme of 7740. Inside, it has four beds, two of them mounted with hinges so they can be folded away. It also comes with a sink, allowing the minifigs to wash themselves after waking up.

On the outside, printed tiles show what type of wagon this is, and what set number it has. This is very unusual, as all other train sets from the grey era use stickers for this. The roof uses the new (for 1983) 6x6 roof part.

The set had a short selling period, as it was removed from the product range in 1985 after 7740 was replaced by 7745. LEGO did not release similar add-on cars for 7745, but the 9v Metroliner 4558 got an additional club car 4547 in 1993.

B-Model

For the B-model, 7815 was redesigned into a small diner car.
